Branded Title Cars for Sale in Salt Lake City at Prestman Auto
What is a branded title?

When an Insurance company buys a vehicle back from a customer it receives a branded title. It is then sold at an insurance auction.
There are lots of reasons cars end up at an insurance auction: hail damage, theft recovery, accidents, etc. Over the last 33 years we have built excellent relationships with the best body shops and rebuilders in the industry.
Our reputation and our clients’ satisfaction are key to our success. We are consistently one of the highest rated branded title dealerships on Google with over 5200 positive reviews with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.0. Our customer feedback is our greatest source of pride and allows other customers to see what thousands of other people have to say about our incredible dealership.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I insure a branded title vehicle
Yes, branded title vehicles can absolutely be insured through most national insurance companies, including State Farm, GEICO, Progressive, Allstate, and Nationwide
With over a decade of experience selling branded title vehicles to friends, family, and customers, we’ve found that only a small number of insurance carriers choose not to provide full coverage. Most insurance companies simply want confirmation that the vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
Because every Prestman Auto vehicle goes through our 151-point inspection, along with required safety and emissions checks, they meet the standards most insurers require.
It’s important to talk with your insurance agent to confirm eligibility, but as we mentioned, most carriers are good with this. If by chance your carrier will not cover a branded title car, let your sales associate know and they’ll be happy to put you in touch with a carrier that does.
How do I finance a branded title car? Is the interest rate higher?
We offer financing through several local and national lenders including Mountain America Credit Union, Cyprus Credit Union, Canyon View Credit Union, and Exeter Bank. We can finance your new car about as easily as any other dealership can. The interest rate is not higher for rebuilt/restored vehicles, and terms go up to 72 months with the most competitive interest rates available.
How does Prestman Auto find its vehicles?
Prestman Auto works with an extensive nationwide network of specialized rebuilders and body shops. Many of these rebuilders focus on specific makes and models, allowing them to develop deep expertise in the repair process. This specialization often results in more efficient repairs, better parts sourcing, and higher-quality workmanship compared to general repair facilities.
In addition to working with trusted rebuilders, we also conduct our own inspection process, and each vehicle must pass our 151-point inspection before we purchase it. Only vehicles that meet our standards make it into our inventory. By carefully selecting and inspecting each vehicle, we’re able to deliver exceptional value and meaningful savings to our customers.
You can explore our inventory to see how this process benefits buyers. We intentionally select vehicles with popular trims, features, and options that customers are looking for. Most of our inventory is just a few years old, which is a sweet spot where we believe our customers can capture the greatest value.
What is a Branded Title?
A branded title happens when an insurance company obtains a vehicle due to a claim. If a claim is related to an accident or a collision the insurance company and/or adjuster will write off or total the vehicle and pay the original owner for the vehicle. In most cases the majority of these vehicles are repairable. Also, if a claim is non-accident related, such as a recovered theft (with or without damage), the insurance company and/or adjuster will still issue a branded title if the vehicle is not recovered within a certain amount of time.
What is a Rebuilt/Restored Title?
A rebuilt/restored title is issued when a salvage vehicle has been completely and professionally restored and has passed the Utah Safety & Emissions test. Once this has been completed the vehicle will be registered into the new owner's name as "rebuilt/restored".
Do recalls apply to salvage or rebuilt titles?
When a vehicle or specific component is identified as a safety concern, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) may require the manufacturer to issue a recall.
In many cases, recall repairs are still available for vehicles with salvage or rebuilt titles. Dealers often perform recall-related repairs or replacements at no cost, even if the vehicle carries a branded title.
I live outside of Utah, how do I drive my car home?
We will provide all out of state buyers with a 45-day temporary license plate which will allow you to drive the vehicle legally while the re-titling process is taking place. This process will make your registration in your state quick and easy.
