If your car's brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, you should have the brakes serviced as quickly as possible. There are many different reasons why your brakes are soft enough to travel so far such as air in the brake line or a fluid leak.

Evidence of a leak may include fluid pooling under the engine or the discovery of sludge in the brake lines during an inspection. There may also be an issue with the brake pedal itself such as a broken or worn brake booster. A brake booster may fail as it gets older or if you consistently press the brake pedal too hard.

Allowing a brake problem to linger may cause significant damage that may cost hundreds or thousands of dollars to replace. You may also be unable to stop your vehicle in a timely manner or at all on hilly or slippery terrain.
